Our Story
Funcats has been a South Perth staple ever since we opened in 1975. Originally, the business was started to provide midweek sailing classes for school children and operated from a caravan! But the popularity of our catamarans took off with the general public, and in no time, we had moved into our current building, opened full-time and in the summer too!​

Over time, we have updated our fleet from older Windrush catamarans to Hobie Waves and have up to date, fully equipped rescue boats watching all of our guests for safety.
​
We have now become one of the largest catamaran hire businesses in Australia and provide lessons to over 14 schools in WA!​
​
Along with our new ownership at the end of 2024, Funcats has a new vision - To evolve into the most friendly, professional and accessible watersports business in Australia. With fleets of modern Catamarans, Stand Up Paddle Boards and Kayaks, we intend to take the business to the next level.

We cater to individuals, groups, families, couples, corporate groups, schools, accessibility groups and more!

Managing Director
Losaline McConachy
Losaline took over Funcats in November of 2024. Since taking over, she has revamped and upgraded every aspect of Funcats operation to make it a world class sailing school, with an incredibly experienced team of staff.
Ambassador of Accessibility
Cameron McConachy
Cameron joined Loz in 2024 and is focused on getting Funcats to the highest level of accessibilty. He wants Funcats to be a place where any and all are welcome and able to try sports they may have never had to opportunity to do before.

With 4 years of experience with us, Luke is your go-to guy for all things Funcats and boating!

Will Hedley
With over 4 years experience teaching and managing RYA sailing and windsurfing schools across Europe, Will brings a host of experience to Funcats.

Joe Pothecary
Joe brings 6 years of RYA experience to the team, and has worked in Europe and New Zealand, as a high level coach and manager in sailing, windsurfing and winging. Currently holds the staff sailing record at Funcats!

Manuel is our part time GVA, bringing a smile and cheer to everyone he encounters! He's a rare sight at Funcats nowadays, working at a primary school mostly, but when he visits be sure to say hello!
